Boosting Recruitment in Grocery Stores

With the number of young adults shrinking, we needed to explore alternate labour pools to meet our industry’s employment needs. We partnered with the Ontario March of Dimes because of their expertise in working with people with disabilities. They had the resources at the ready, and were responsive, proactive and reliable: they made our lives easy. They gave us a successful training model that we could customize and replicate across the province. In fact, we’re using it to support employers country-wide. March of Dimes also provided grocery-specific training that served as a great pre-screening tool. We now have a 90% success rate in placing people with disabilities. Our employers are thrilled. Our partnership with the March of Dimes gave us credibility with employers for future endeavours and builds our reputation as an industry that can be an intentional career destination.
